Nokia mobile navigation accelerates

AMSTERDAM - Nokia has this week launched a service that a mobile phone within a minute GPS can identify where he is located. Now that lasts an average of about three minutes. The service offers new opportunities for online location services.

Because of the slowness of GPS services in the mobile phone is the use of telefoonnavigatie so far has not really come off the ground. Mobile handset manufacturers see GPS-based navigation, however, as one of the most valuable mobile extras.

Analistenbureau Berg Insight predicts that sales of mobile phone based personal navigation in 2009 the 12 million limit in Europe and the United States. In 2005 stood at the counter only 1 million.

Most GPS-assisted technologies in the mobile phone use of mobile antennas on the supplier for the rapidly finding locations. The new service of Nokia, however, use of data on the SIM card and new software that enables the phone in order to capture satellite signals.

Autonavigatiesystemen make use of GPS chips that determine their position through satellites. That Nokia will use this technology now in its phones, it means fierce competition for makers of car.

nokia n70

nokia n70 great disingn and mulitfunctioneel
General comments
I have the nokia N70 now more than a year in possession and despite that
I think the potential fine and am happy about, for example
the video quality, all in all I am not really satisfied with
this phone. I would be very pleased with the N70, as he
spotlessly would work. And that is sometimes lacking.

The problem is that I have regularly vastlopers. Then I can not
more by the thumbnails zapping, my video is no longer
open, but it happened that I can not call or smssen,
not receive calls, not my alarm goes off. Sometimes he does
nothing more and I have the battery out to get him
back to life.
(Let me add that I am always cautious with this
phone'm dealt, there is a hardplastic protective order and
he never divested or something strange has been!)
'Unfortunately,' This does not happen every day so that I can not back him
send. There he works again. But it's up
again with some regularity that it annoys me sometimes good and I
certainly not on this phone can really trust.

There are also pluses. For example, I have to
my last vacation around 7 pm on vacation. Those
have the quality you expect from a phone with this number of pixels
can expect, and that is not bad. Personally I am
charmed the quality if I movies on the big screen
playback, it reminds me of an old movie.

A memory card of 1 gig is too heavy for this phone.
There, he became extremely slow. But with a postcard of a
half a gig he works much better.

Nokia e61i is maybe not so beautiful, but very fine!

General comments
This phone I have since June and he is really very fine.
Many people find that the phone does not look, but when you
once there are doing these shows still very fine.
A normal smsje what not too long goes with me as soon 3x
as someone with an ordinary keyboard. It is the
phone also ideal for push-mail thus very suitable for the
business side. He can do many things simultaneously on the screen and say that
is always useful. In addition, there is good
camara in it and this especially for a business phone. I've
even read somewhere that this phone on 3rd place in the top
5 finest phones has been.
Strengths
The possibility for push-mail, I find it very fine, because now I can
at least my mail anytime and anywhere.

Weaknesses
The phone is not really nice, he is very wide and that is a downside, but
it is this very thin so that compensates for the weather.

To recommend?
I can certainly recommend him, because the phone I have now and he is 6-8 months
am still functional.

Mobile Nokia N810 luxury

Halfway between a mobile phone and a small notebook, the Nokia N810 is presented as the new standard of so-called Internet Tablet. A portentous display of more than 4 inches, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, a GPS receiver and an excellent web browser makes this device a rarity in the catalogue of the Finnish firm. Is Worth prefer this or N810 is better to go for a UMPC?
The integration of a sliding QWERTY keyboard that does not compromise too much space device is a great advantage. Even so, while facilitating the writing is a bit awkward to use because of their size and status.
# The TI OMAP 2420 processor 400 MHz falls a bit short for applications that this model is able to run as charting a path in the GPS navigator, or play a movie.
# The internal memory of 2 GB soon be exhausted. A couple of movies and some music are enough to reach the limit. Fortunately, the N810 has a MicroSD card slot and microSDHC Card, which prior step-by-box can solve this problem.
# The software and integrated applications are very entertainment-oriented and neglect the professional field, except for a modest reader PDF documents. This deficiency can overcome exprimiendo the possibilities offered by the open source operating system of N810, based on Linux Maemo 4.0.
# The N810 is not a Nokia phone. While this is no surprise, the fact is that this gap might impede access to the Internet when there is no nearby hotspot. In turn, the alternatives offered to make calls-Skype or Gizmo, the latter with interoperability-dependent on Wi-Fi.
In fact, if there is an access point Wi-Fi, we can only connect to the network throwing hand of a 3G phone via the port Bluetooth device, or configuring the USB connection in the "host" and connecting an USB modem. The latter option requires a certain skill by the user, since it is necessary to write code and perform some simple fudge.
Given the guidance of N810 as a wireless device to surf the Internet, surprising that it was not well endowed WiMAX technology. Dependence on an access point or an open network can provide-in a country like Spain-a major constraint for a device like this.
The device integrates a VGA camera that allows us to make video calls, but lacks a second to take snapshots or that peculiar camera original guidance of N800. One limitation incomprehensible, given the importance that Nokia has always given to the capture of photographs and videos in their series models N.
The GPS navigator that incorporates after the first examinations carried out, we felt it right and with good sensitivity, however without reaching the excellence of Sirf Star III.
The device is fitted with an audio takes a standard 3.5-mm headphone instead of the uncomfortable connections typical in many other appliances.
The Mozilla browser technology supports Ajax and Flash 9.0 and lets you enjoy the Internet with much greater ease than in other devices.

It could bring in music that manages its 2.4-inch screen, 240x320 resolution and 16 million colors. These data assure us a display of incredible quality. But we will deepen a little more in each function.

Your music

As has already commented on a sound and high fidelity stereo speakers.
To access your music rotates the screen and use shortcut keys.
With 5-band equalizer, reproduction of your favorite songs up to ten hours.

You can connect to your stereo or car and listen to your songs through them.

You can create your own lists of songs and exchanges with friends.
And of course radio, as in most models this house.
Your videos and photos

Record or play videos, go to Visual Radio (which I still have not tried it, so if you already contare), edit your video and share them or not.
Formats reproduction (and I say that the same thing with audio) MP4, MPEG4, and MPEG4 AVC.

As for your picture, the camera also has a Hotkey. With flash and 2 megapixels and 4x digital zoom. You can edit your photos and images up and can do landscape photos, which is an image as big as 5 boards.

I forgot, also includes video call.

You can mandar SMS, MMS and e-mails.
More

Following functions with voice recorder and comes with voice commands, such as voice dialing, hands-free speaker and the press no longer so novel and speaks, but clearly the latter will depend on the operator of their choice.

Apply
It comes with, adored by many, Symbian OS, and applications such as Canon and Marble City Blox (games, I did not know until now, incidentally) preinstalled. And more things you can get, I leave myself at the moment like this.

Memory
And as he walks preguntareis memory, because with 64MB RAM and 128MB flash memory, but what he put aside, for that comes with its ranurita for micro SD, for the ampliés or not.

Connections
For Bluetooth (version 2.0), USB, infrared, we are going as you want.

Screen
That you can tell from the screen? Shortly if you see the pictures, but we are going to

technicalities:
QVGA color screen, 2.2 "with up to 16 million colors.
Format (because sometimes matter)

It weighs 115g with the battery,

Measure: 108.2 x 50.5 x 17.3 mm

Also of course comes with the basics of series:

Nokia N75 Review - Introduction / Design

Introduction

The Nokia N75's matte graphite exterior, a departure from the flashy metallic finishes that are currently common, suggests that the phone holds new and unique features inside as well.

But that proves to be only partly true, although it is quite solid in design, connectivity, and multimedia features such as an integrated 2.0-megapixel camera and 3D speakers.

The N75 is also very solid in the hand, weighing in at 4.23 ounces and sized at a somewhat clunky at 2.05 inches wide, 3.74 inches long and 0.80 inches thick. Sharp photos and elegant exterior design are strong points of the phone, on which the lens and shutter button are placed to resemble a traditional camera. Three simple music player and multi-function buttons on the front of the phone enhance its multimedia uses.

The Nokia N75 also has the potential to be a world traveler. As a quad-band world phone, it can be used on all four frequencies of GSM commonly used internationally.

Design

The distinctive exterior of the N75 deserves the most points for design, with a keypad layout that is also intuitive and useful. The weight is not much more than some clamshells currently on the market but going against the trend of ultra-thin phones, its size is not as easy to slip into a pocket as many others. It is also quite long when opened, with a considerable distance between the earpiece and the bottom of the phone.

There are benefits to having large size however, and one is the beautiful, expansive 2.4-inch QVGA internal display. The 240 x 320 px display offers 16.7 million colors including an ambient light detector, which optimizes the brightness of the display and controls power consumption. Meanwhile the external screen provides convenient access to functions without having to open the phone at a crisp 128 x 160 px.

Optimizing for design, the N75 sports an internal antenna. A small, black Power Key is positioned at the top of the phone, while the top left hand side has a large tab that covers the USB Port. The USB Port provides connectivity with a PC or a compatible media player. Nokia PC Suite software can be used to print images or transfer data. The Charger plugs into a port below the USB Port.

Below on the left side is a smaller tab that covers the microSD card slot, allowing users to expand storage space with extra memory cards. This cover is less flimsy than some, but it still seems delicate enough to break at some point.

A bi-directional Volume Key on the upper right side also doubles as the Zoom Key during Camera Mode. Directly below, an Infrared Port lets consumers transfer data wirelessly to other devices. Above the multi-function Mode Key gives users added convenience by switching between different applications. The bottom right is the Camera Key, which activates the camera and camcorder and snaps photos with the phone open or closed.

While the keypad is overall very simple and well designed, some users might have difficulty with the Menu key and Music Key. These two buttons are positioned between the Call, End and Right and Left Selection Keys. One misplaced touch to the Menu or Music Key brings up those applications, and can interrupt texting or dialing.

Key multimedia features on the N75's exterior are the two 3D speakers located discretely at the top corners, and the three simple Music Player buttons on the face, below the display.

Back and Forward arrows straddle a Play / Pause Key, and all three Multi-Function Keys control other applications in addition to music. A blue light pops up behind the keys with the touch of a finger, an attractive color that ties in well with the black exterior.

Out of the box, the Nokia N75 comes with an 800 mAh Li-Ion Battery, Charger, Data Cable, Quick Start Guide, and User Manual.

Nokia 6060 review: Magical attraction

Nokia has prepared a new clamshell for the fans of the stylish phones. The phone features a TFT display and an exceptionally comfortable keypad. It plays MP3 files as well. Yet, the number of minuses is somewhat high: Nokia 6060 does not have an external display, its antenna sticks out and the polyphonic sound is low-quality. There is however one thing that this phone does not lack for sure - it literally exudes charisma.
Key characteristics

* Elegant design
* Large functional keys
* Comfortable keypad
* TFT display
* MP3 ringtones

Main disadvantages

* No outer display
* External antenna
* GPRS Class 6 only
* Limited communication options
* Low-quality polyphonic ringing

In June this year Nokia launched four new GSM mobile phones at once. Among them was the clamshell we are presenting you today, Nokia 6060. It is made to meet the demand of all users, who long for style and good functionality. The phone does not have a camera. Yet, I have no fear that it will suffer lack of attention.

Nokia 6212 Classic Launched with Electronic Wallet

Nokia today said it would start selling a new handset, the 6212 Classic, with integrated Near Field Communication (NFC). NFC allows users to share content by connecting two phones which can receive audio files and other downloads from service providers simultaneously. The phone can also be used for payments.

By tapping an NFC-enabled tag, users can receive content such as weblinks, audio files or contact data. Consumers can activate profiles in their handsets or open applications like FM radios or web browsers. Photos and videos can be shared by tapping another NFC-capable phone and pairing with a Bluetooth NFC-enabled device happens with one touch.

The 6212 Classic can also be used as a travel ticket or for mobile payments. Travel tickets can be charged over the air, so there is no need to wait at the service counter. Users can store their credit card information on the device and access their account online directly from the handset. Security for transactions is assured by allowing payment only when users expressly authorizes the transaction via an additional passcode.

The Nokia 6212 Classic allows users to personalize and edit their own NFC tags, be it for writing calendar entries or setting the alarm clock. The sales pack of the Nokia 6212 Classic comes with three sticker tags, one of which opens the NFC introduction in the phone.

"NFC-capable handsets such as the Nokia 6212 Classic are set to change the way mobile phone users interact with devices and services in their surroundings," says Jeremy Belostock, the Head of Near Field Communications, Nokia. "With the Nokia 6212 Classic, people can swap items like business cards or calendar notes by simply tapping their handsets together. With ever-increasing device functions and services available, ease-of-use is essential. One way to keep things simple is NFC."

The slim 6212 Classic comes with an extensive set of features such as a 2.0-megapixel camera, bright 2.0-inch QVGA display, stereo FM radio and music player supporting multiple formats. An optional microSD memory card of up to 4 GB provides ample space for personal content such as images and songs.

The Nokia 6212 Classic is expected to start shipping in the third quarter of 2008 in select markets in Europe and Asia with an estimated retail price of EUR 200 ($316 USD) before taxes and subsidies.

Nokia N90 camera review: Exceeding the expectations

The new Nokia N90 mobile phone prides on a two megapixel camera equipped with Carl Zeiss optics. Besides, it has a wide array of camera controls and picture settings. Is the new Nokia N90 the best photo mobile? This article includes a direct comparison between pictures taken with Nokia N90 and pictures taken with the excellent Canon G6 digital camera.
Just days ago you had the chance to read our review of the Nokia N90. Can we still speak about this model as of a mobile phone? It is a multifunctional device, which serves not only as a phone, but also as a communicator, a MP3 player, a digital camera and a video camera.

Disappointment did not last much

When I was writing the review about Nokia N90, I got seriously disappointed by its built-in camera. Everything just spoke in its favor: the optics with Carl Zeiss hallmark, the sensor with two megapixels, incl. previous experience with the 6630 and 6681 camera models. We all expected Nokia N90 to be one of the best photo mobiles ever. So imagine how great my disappointment was when I found out that auto-focusing takes three long seconds, pictures are often blurred and finally, text shots can be considered nothing else but a plain shame. To be honest, at first I tended to think that the fault was rather mine for all pictures advertised in Nokia N90 official presentation look brilliant.

Eventually, things found their places. By mistake, Nokia had provided us with a phone, whose camera was not the final one. So we were immediately given a new phone, whose tests left no doubts and made all editors in our office claim in one voice: "This camera is really good!". That is why we decided to prepare a separate review of the camera of N90, in which we offer you a lot more sample photos.

How should I hold this?

Nokia N90 has a special construction - it features a rotating display and camera. It offers two hold positions for taking pictures - one is in the same style as if you are holding a video camera, the other one is the classic photographic camera position. In the first case, the main high-quality display plays the role of a viewfinder. It shows 262K colors in a resolution of the incredible 352 × 416 pixels. The device is controlled by the joystick, mounted on the right side of the phone. The joystick itself is manipulated by user's right thumb. The shutter button is situated just above the joystick. Moreover, you can even press the rotating camera downwards by using your thumb. To use the menu, use your left hand and press the two buttons placed next to the display.

f you prefer to take pictures in the same way as with a common compact camera, you will need to close the phone. You need to turn the camera part crosswise; the small outer display serves as a viewfinder. It is active, displays 65K and offers a resolution of 128 × 128 pixels. The entire control process is done by the joystick on the top edge of the phone. Right next to the joystick is the shutter button. Unlike standard photo cameras, here the control is managed from the opposite side with one's left thumb. This is a bit unusual, but needs just a while to get used to. The inconvenience of this handhold is that the rotating part of the camera needs to be turned by the lower end - its mechanism does not allow a full rotation of 360°; if you try to rotate it along the top, the camera part gets stuck into the stop, which results in the camera lens looking upwards without a possibility for further rotation.

The camera control application starts automatically once one of the described positions has been set. Besides, you won't even find an option that allows manual activation of the camera, because it is simply unnecessary.

Nokia N90 review: The great mobile revolution

The best display on the market; 2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics; Symbian OS; multimedia player; memory card slot; voice recognition; Bluetooth EDGE; 3G network support ... And all this in just a single phone - the futuristic clamshell Nokia N90.

Key features

* Top-class main display
* Big high-quality outer display
* 2 megapixel rotating camera with autofocus and Carl Zeiss optics
* Slot for the RS-MMC memory cards (3V and 1.8V)
* Active stand-by mode (Today)
* Stereo MP3 player

Main disadvantages

* Bigger size and weight
* Long starting lags
* Worse battery durability
* Dictaphone manages one-minute records only
* No vibration

When Nokia presented its first models of the elite N series in April this year, they took many people's breath away. The idea of the Finish manufacturer about this series is to offer mobiles that feature top class-technologies and to provide this way the best possible equipment in a mobile device. As a result of these efforts the new models N91, N90 and N70 were brought to the world. All three models are equipped with the operation system Symbian Series 60 and feature an exceptional variety of functions.

The first one constitutes the very top of this Series. The main lure of this device is the built-in hard disk with a capacity of 4 GB. Most of all, this phone is meant to serve music fans. However, it also offers a 2 megapixel camera and a serious amount of functions. The phone has a classic construction with a slide cover keypad, but it is marked by a notably bigger weight and size. On the lowest step of the virtual evaluative ladder is situated the N70 model. Its design could hardly impress most mobile users, but at least, it fits into the weight and size category of most current smart phones. Its target customer group is the one of the most pretentious users, who need a phone combining both work and fun.

The futuristic clamshell N90 stands on a step lower than the N91 model. There is no doubt that it will be welcome with excitement by all fans of digital photography. Beside the standard extended functional menu, it also offers a 2 megapixel camera, whose optics pride on the hallmark of Carl Zeiss, the manufacturer, whose optic equipment and lenses made him famous all over the world. Of course, here you will find a memory card slot and also one of the finest displays ever. This last model is the first one to hit the market, so it also was the first to undergo our severe tests.

Nokia 6030 review: Cheap, yet a show off

Nokia 6030 is a cheap phone, which looks good and offers a radio. Having designed such a phone, the manufacture is trying to repeat the commercial success of its older low-middle class phones, which have recently been petering out. Is the new 6030 model prepared to follow the path outlined by Nokia's legendary models?
Key features

* Good design
* Built-in radio
* Big functional keys

Main disadvantages

* Main control button is not comfortable
* No infrared port
* Passive display
* Monophonic built-in radio

Nokia presented its 6030 model as an entry into the low middle class category in March, just before the CeBIT fair. The main advantage of this phone is its design and price. What it will not bewilder customers with is its functions, for which an explanation is also at hand - Nokia 6030 is directed at the group of less-pretentious users, who are expected to get satisfaction of a common basic functional menu.

The low middle class phones are very important for manufacturers, even though it does not seem so at first sight. Parents have already become used to equipping their children with mobiles at a relatively young age, so any simple control together with a reasonable price is equal to a boom. Common mobile phone users form the other group that will surely appreciate these same features. There is no need of megapixels here and memory cards appear to be unnecessary.
Glossy strips

The phone gives a solid impression. The famous standard mobile construction has round edges, a size of 104 × 44 × 18 mm and weighs 90 grams. Glossy strips are dragged along all side parts of the phone. Although plastic, they successfully imitate metal. What's more, they visually divide the side parts of the mobile, astringing this way the strip of different color among them. Thanks to this effect, the phone looks far thinner than it really is. At the bottom edges of the device are situated the eyelets for interlacing a strap.

As for the front cover of the new phone, it does not resemble any other Nokia model's front side. It looks as if it has been transversely laminated with 5 different big strips, 2 of which constitute of the really bulky context keys. The very first element that catches the eye of the new owner is surely the main control button. It is glossy - just like the strips on the sideways. However, as its surface is visually quite big, a single look is enough to reveal the cheap image of the plastic control button.

The manufacturer's logo glasses just below the silver strip of the speaker as well as on the back cover of the phone. There is no sense looking for a camera lens here, for Nokia 6030 does not take pictures. This, however, may be a very smart idea in terms of the target user category, because simplicity keeps the price low.
